Silent Hill: Townfall made an appearance in today’s Sony State of Play, revealing new gameplay footage and a PS5 launch date of September 24, 2026.
Townfall was first revealed way, way back in 2022 in a teaser, and fully revealed again earlier this year during another State of Play. A spinoff of the main series, Townfall is set in the 90s and follows a man named Simon Ordell who wakes up in the Scottish town of St. Amelia, where he has to work to uncover why he’s connected to this village he doesn’t know.
The trailer we saw today showed Simon awakening on the docks of St. Amelia, then using a wonderfully retro radio to follow a woman’s voice into the town. It looks like this device will be used frequently throughout the game, as seems to be able to cart it around and tune it to different frequencies.
Of course, being Silent Hill, things quickly go from misty and sad to dark, red, and messed up. There are creatures prowling in the buildings of the town, and the trailer ends on the tagline, “fear the truth behind the static,” suggesting the very 90s setting and analog technology will play a key role.
