New Indiana Jones Game Is 'Biggest' The Studio's Ever Made

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is nearly here. The big first-person action-puzzler arrives on Xbox and PC next month and if you’ve been wondering just how big Indy’s next digital adventure will be, well, we don’t have a specific number yet but it sounds big.

On November 25, MinnMax posted a new rapid fire interview with two of the developers on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. During the interview, the devs were asked how long The Great Circle is and while they didn’t give a specific hour count, they did provide some context that lets us come up with a rough estimation.

“By far this is the biggest and longest game that Machinegames have ever done,” said Great Circle’s creative director Axel Torvenius.

Machinegames’ previous “biggest” titles include the very good Wolfenstein: The New Order and its (also good) sequel Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Both were fairly large, somewhat linear shooters featuring more open-ended moments and a lot of Nazi killing. That sounds very similar to what we are getting in The Great Circle. Those two games both took about 13-15 hours to complete, assuming you did some side content and didn’t just rush to the end.

It seems safe to assume that Great Circle, which sounds like a much bigger game with maps you can return to find missed secrets, will take most players at least 16 hours or more. Based on the fact that the game also includes nearly four hours of cutscenes, as revealed in the MinnMax interview, I’d say that its probable that Great Circle ends up being a 20 hour game for many people, especially if you don’t rush through levels and try to find everything secret and complete all the puzzles.

On the flip side, it will only take you about 1o hours to watch all five Indiana Jones movies. Will this new game feel like five Indiana Jones movies smooshed together? We’ll find out soon enough.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches on Xbox, Game Pass, and PC on December 9. If you pre-order the fancy expensive version you get to play it three days early. The game will also arrive on PlayStation 5 next year.
