First Borderlands 4 Gameplay Is Here And Looks Good

Tonight, during the 2024 Game Awards, we got our first real look at the previously announced Borderlands 4, the next main entry in Gearbox’s super popular first-person looter shooter series.

Here’s the first gameplay trailer which shows off new worlds, guns, features, and what seems to be a new crew of Vault Hunters:

In the new trailer, which starts right where the initial reveal teaser ended, we see a large battle happening between what appears to be an army of angry mutants and mannequin looking aliens who seem to be led by a strange, ominous bad guy who’s face is hidden in the teaser.

Is this someone we known? A new character? Or someone related to a previous villain? Maybe Handsome Jack had a brother or a dad or a really close friend who also had a messed up face?

We also see a ton of new guns and planets in the gameplay trailer during a montage. And at the end of that there’s a moment where the player uses a holo-grapple hook-thingy and zip up to a higher area in a few seconds. Older Borderlands games didn’t have this much mobility, but Borderlands 3 added mantling and more options. It seems the fourth entry in Gearbox’s sci-fi franchise will add even more ways to move around while killing bandits and looting weapons.

Borderlands 4 was previously announced in August. The game is set to arrive in 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
